Mark E. Smith, Poet and Prophet

The entire music industry is summed up in one statement.

Smith goes on to blame Tony Blair in his article, and he's right--culturally, Blair represented the establishment intersecting with working class musicians in a way that ended up leaving everyone on their ass, broken and bankrupt of ideas or credibility.

The jackasses selling computers, Internet connections, and MP3 players are due some blame as well, and so are the fools who backed up the idea that free music was going to lead to everyone getting rich. Smith is probably still waiting for his checks.
