It would be easy to hate on Iggy Pop for thinking that he could say something like this so soon after we were all reassured that giving away music for free would lead to increased sales:

It's an ad and that's all it is"This is why you can't blame people like Iggy for trying to monetize themselves in ways that would have been unthinkable thirty years ago. They need to make living, and album sales alone could never generate the amount of money that has been pouring into (but not out of) the various streaming sources out there.
