Abstract Number Five, June 2012

I very nearly gave up on this one.

Whenever I paint, there is a thing that can sometimes happen where the pain becomes an unworkable, unremarkable soup of discoloration. Instead of useful bits to push around and find the corners, I end up with globs of gray and yellow dishwater.

What saved this one was indifference. I let it dry and went back at it. I think I pulled it out in the end, but who knows? These two re-jiggered versions are better in many ways.
