Probably Not a Good Idea to Be Seen With Trump

Trump Limbaugh Golfer.png

If you were hoping for a pause of the insanity of having a sitting president who is compromised by the Russians and can’t stop obstructing justice, then this is not your weekend.

Who in their right mind would be seen in public with Trump after the release of the Mueller Report? Well, now you have your answer—Rush Limbaugh, of course, and I suppose Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs are wondering what they did wrong.

To mount a full-throated defense of the indefensible is to divorce yourself from facts and reality with regards to Trump. Your garden variety publicist would be of two minds here—one, you could avoid the most toxic figure in America and maintain a low profile. Two, you could be seen as supportive and friendly, but risk being tarnished by association.

Whoever advised golfer Lexi Thompson to appear in a photograph with this president and one of the most venal conservatives in American history should be fired:

It’s a fact that Trump and Limbaugh have larger breasts than this young, athletic woman. I’m not sure what kind of a hot take that is, but it is factually correct.

The cult of Trump is all in, baby, all in. They don’t care what “voters” think because they know their Russian friends can bail them out of tight races. They don’t care what the serfs have to say about a damned thing. They have one constituency, and it’s a pitifully small group of oligarchs in Russia and the United States who are going to spend the next twenty-one months on this Earth stealing everything that they can get their hands on.

I had a bunch of tubby jokes, but fat shaming these men is impossible.

They don’t know what shame is anymore. They blunder through life, fucking everything up, and they can’t be bothered with how it looks. Someone else will repair the ruins. They know a Democrat will be elected in 2020, and that president will spend 8 years fixing everything they’ve broken. And then we’ll do it all over again because Americans never seem to learn the truth about Republicans, do they?

Federal Control Over Ferguson is Needed

Do you know what is wrong with this picture?

The State of Missouri has far too many crazy Republican lawmakers and judges. The Federal bench as well--too many wingnuts and kooks.

We should be well on our way to Federal control of the police and the courts in Ferguson, Missouri. Instead, we're dancing around the problem, which is this--the power structure is corrupt as hell and needs to be dismantled. Someone needs to protect the citizens of Ferguson from their own police force and their own racist, bigoted municipal government.

And how sad is it that you can say that and discover there really are no plausible or coherent arguments to the contrary?

Nobody Goes to Jail These Days

Someone wake up Dinesh D'Souza before he sleeps through his stories:
David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to President Obama, says he’s proud of the fact “there hasn’t been a major scandal” during the administration’s six years in office.
Axelrod was responding to a question from the audience about the so-called Washington revolving door between lobbyists and the White House during a discussion of his recent book at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics.
Somewhere, a man's head just exploded in a spasm of outrage and you can hear the indignant persecution complex of D'Souza begin anew:
Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza avoided prison on Tuesday when a U.S. judge sentenced him to serve eight months in a community confinement center after he pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance law.
D'Souza, 53, was ordered by U.S. District Judge Richard Berman in Manhattan to live in a center, which would allow him to leave during non-residential hours for employment, for the first eight months of a five-year probationary period.
Berman also ordered D'Souza to perform one day of community service a week during probation, undergo weekly therapy and pay a $30,000 fine.
D'Souza, a frequent critic of U.S. President Barack Obama, admitted in May to illegally reimbursing two "straw donors" who donated $10,000 each to the unsuccessful 2012 U.S. Senate campaign in New York of Wendy Long, a Republican he had known since attending Dartmouth College in the early 1980s.
So, just to recap--none of the Obama appointees have gone to jail, only a handful have done anything wrong, and one of the most prominent critics of the Obama Administration can't even get sent to jail in this modern era of elitist backscratching and corruption. A few people have resigned, but, big deal, right? Nobody's being dumped in a Federal Prison anywhere.

What does that tell you about where this country is headed right now? Nobody will ever go to jail for anything ever again.

An Ethics-Free Congress

You can tell the Republicans are in charge because ethics no longer matter. Michael Grimm was re-elected with a felony indictment hanging over his head and, thanks to a safely Gerrymandered district, he won his race going away.

And yes, there is a precedent here. William Jefferson was a corrupt Congressman from Louisiana who stuffed the money in his freezer and told everyone to go pound sand when they politely asked him to resign from Congress. You can read about that here and then do a comparison and contrast with how the GOP leadership has basically thrown their hands in the air over a convicted felon like Grimm. Reading that old story was like stepping into a time machine.

Ethics in Congress? Really? And people actually cared about that stuff? Wow.
