Sinclair Broadcast Group

Take a look at that map and see if there's a Sinclair Broadcast Group television station near you. Then, ask yourself--what if my local TV station started broadcasting material that was supportive of Nancy Pelosi or Democrats in the Senate or pro-DACA or whatever. You can't ask yourself that because Republicans would shit themselves and try to burn everything to the ground. They can't even handle people pointing out that climate change is happening before our very eyes. They can't handle anything based on facts.

This is allowed because it is pro-GOP and pro-Trump:

Earlier this year, CNN’s Brian Stelter reported that Sinclair Broadcast Group, the largest owner of local news stations in the country with over 200 owned or operated, would be requiring local news anchors to read a scripted promo that reflects a mistrust of the media. Some in the news industry expressed outrage at the time, but the anger has ignited Twitter in recent days after Deadspin created a compilation video showing dozens of newscasters reading the same promo.

The spot includes language painting the Sinclair-owned local news stations as the heralds of real news and refers to other media outlets as publishing “fake stories…stories that just aren’t true, without checking facts first.” The language reflects President Donald Trump’s insistence that the mainstream news media is “fake” and that certain narratives are pushed for political reasons. “Unfortunately, some members of the media use their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control ‘exactly what people think,'” the promo reads.

This is state-sponsored propaganda, plain and simple. Sinclair is betting on Trump's regime being able to survive for the next two and a half years. They want their acquisitions to come under little or no scrutiny and they want their corporate tax rates to be cut even further. They want to buy up as many local stations as they can. The biggest threat to their bottom line is having people notice that they are not serving the public's interest. After being caught like this, people should be resigning from Sinclair-owned stations, en masse, but don't expect that to happen.

Once you are tainted by demonstrating your fanatical support of Trump, who's going to hire you? Sinclair represents anti-journalism. Protect the president and the GOP at all costs, or reap the whirlwind.

What I think is happening with the coordinated messaging is that Sinclair realizes that if the Democrats take control of Congress, they'll sail to victory in 2020 and break up the company. The only thing that might thwart that possibility is if the Republicans can hold onto control of the House. If you look at where Sinclair owns stations, they correspond to areas where Democrats are going to pick up a lot of House seats if we see a Blue Wave this fall.

The Republican Party is not going to lay down. They're going to fight like hell. We cannot let up and we better be ready for everything they try to do to mislead the voters and steal another election.
