My Mom Said Mexico Had no Extradition Treaty With the America

America's bloodlust for revenge will not be denied:
Mexican authorities have detained so-called "affluenza" teen Ethan Couch and his mother near the popular Mexican Pacific beach resort town of Puerto Vallarta, officials briefed on the matter told CNN.
Couch, 18, went missing earlier this month, two years after he made national news when he was sentenced to probation for a drunken driving crash that killed four people.
Couch is expected to be turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service, who have spent weeks searching for him. A spokesman for the service declined to comment.
The people of Mexico are much safer with Ethan Couch in custody. They'll be even safer when he and his moms are in the custody of the federales and are back in Texas where angry mobs can throw dead chicken parts and Bibles at them when they arrive at whatever county courthouse they end up in. I think this should definitely be a case where they give him a third or even fourth chance. A country that can pardon a fuck-up with lots of money like Robert Downey Jr. is a country that can slap Ethan Couch on the shoulder and say, "don't run off again, ya hear?"

Affluenza is not a disease but it should be. This is the new gilded age, after all. Many, many families are dealing with out of control sons with too much money and whiskey dick. Let us ease up on our demand, our desperate thirst for vengeance. The Lord would like us a lot better if we weren't so quick to blog about these things.

Oh, and it goes without saying--a country that can let the killer of Tamir Rice walk is a country where Ethan Couch will still see far more due process than he deserves. Got wads of cash? Justice is blind to your issues, sir.
