There is No Candidate

I'm just going to throw this out there--none of the candidates seeking the nomination for President on the Republican side are viable candidates for anything other than nuttiest Amway salesman of the month.

Look at the field--none of these people should be in charge of anything. A fair number of them shouldn't even be in the United States Senate, let alone president. They shouldn't be running the states they're from; they shouldn't even be allowed to drive or interact with regular people.

Jeee-zus.

When you read pieces like the above, you come away with a better understanding of how desperately foolish the Republicans are going to look when challenged with actual facts in front of their own primary voters. These people know what the facts are--they do live in the real world and know that the deficit is the ultimate bullshit issue. It only exists when there's a chance that a Democrat might get to produce a viable budget bill that will pass. When a Republican is in high office, the deficit disappears as an issue that polite people will never mention because it simply doesn't matter. The United States of America has a massive nuclear arsenal, aircraft carriers, a fleet of the most advanced ships, planes, and attack submarines, and a ground army that can destroy entire nations in mere days. Go ahead--try and collect the money you're owed. We'll tell you when you're getting paid, if at all. Everyone knows this and they hold out their hats and hope for a few coins.

A Republican primary debate is un-watchable when you're familiar with American government and how it functions. It doesn't take more than a few minutes to reach for your forehead with your palm--who the fuck are these idiots and why don't they know anything?

Social Security will be "insolvent" in less than seven years? Well, we'd better cut defense spending and raise taxes on everyone making more than $250,000 per year to make sure it doesn't happen.

None of these people could have been president in my lifetime, and I'm convinced that the Republican Party will have to find someone--anyone--to fill the slot when this realization hits home. The process is severely broken and facts are not something you can blame on media inquiries. There isn't anyone who can stand up to any kind of scrutiny, nor is there anyone currently running who can claim any kind  of accomplishment or success. It's a clown car, and it has no tires.
