The Future of the Future

This is a story that should give people pause.

A 92 year-old man, whose sole responsibility appears to be guessing about the future of what will kill us all, maintains his fiefdom inside of the department of defense bureaucracy.

The issue is not his age but his ability to survive in a bureaucracy that has gotten out of hand and can't stop spending money in the most wasteful manner possible. The oversight on spending has failed so utterly and completely that no one can get a handle on how bad the problem even is. And you can look no further than the ability of influential bureaucrats who can avoid the ax by calling in favors.

Fix the way money is allocated and spent and you can have all the Yodas you want.
