Rescue Me has never found a huge audience, but it has always done fairly well in comparison to the other shows that are out there in that genre. The 2000s were great for television. This is where networks like FX, Showtime, AMC, HBO and USA have really stretched the limits of what you can do with the dramatic television series as an art form.
There is a special intensity to Rescue Me, and I think it will always remain in the consciousness of the public. I don't think it will be a show that fades away. I think people are really going to have put their DVD collection together and give it a thorough viewing to see how it dealt with pain, loss, suffering and friendship.
