Do Not Speak of the Dead
Never speak of the dead with someone who didn't bring it up in the first place.
In the case of American athlete Bode Miller--who qualifies more as a brand than anything else because of how long he has been competing in the Winter Olympics--it is wrong to press him and force him to speak of his dead family member. If Miller were to bring up the subject, it's fine to ask him questions about it but only in the context of what he has mentioned.
American media outlets are shameless and staffed by idiots. A producer should have cut away or brought Christin Cooper back onto the subject without causing Miller additional grief.
I get that NBC is probably not making as much money on the Olympics as someone hoped, but, come on. Quit trying to manufacture stories.
