The Retail Book Industry Is Collapsing

Barnes & Noble was one of my favorite places in the world. When I worked there (three different Barnes & Noble stores, along with a B. Dalton), I really enjoyed being dropped into that weird world of selling books to people.

They're still a present-tense reality, but they're about to be past-tense far too soon. Retail books are going to be an oddity that went away far too soon.

I sell my titles on Amazon.com. Theoretically, you could say that I have contributed to the destruction of the bookstore. The only problem with that is, no one would ever publish me so, you know, there's that. My hands are sort of clean, but I'm still going to miss the stores and the experience.
