So Much For the End of the Republican Party
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 The culmination of a year of hubris, wasteful spending, and corruption sees the Republican Party winning in Virginia and New Jersey, effectively walking back much of what Democrats gained in 2008.
I’m not surprised about Virginia; it has flirted with being a blue state. It won’t be blue again unless something drastic happens in the next year. There’s no point thinking of 2012 until we have one more cycle, and that’s what 2010 will show us in terms of whether or not the Republican Party can really stage a comeback. I am surprised Corzine lost in New Jersey. Perhaps that is the end of that fool.
The one person responsible for this comeback is President Barack Obama. Instead of finishing off the Republican Party, he has done nothing for the last year but resurrect it and give it life. The media certainly haven’t hurt those efforts. Hopefully, we can continue to see Republicans on the Sunday morning talk shows every week until the next election day. Liberals who have sat on their ass or carried water for the Obama Administration enabled this comeback. Chortling on your blog about how Republicans are finished sort of looks like amateur hour right now, doesn’t it?
Anyone who dismisses what happened yesterday is deluding themselves. Repudiation never looked so final and damning.
